Dennis Munene Mwaniki is the Executive Director of the China-Africa Center at the Africa Policy Institute.

Previously, he was a Senior Policy Adviser, Researcher, and Policy Analyst on Governance, Foreign Relations, and Security issues at the Africa Policy Institute. He also served as a Personal Assistant to the President and CEO at the API Corporate Center.

Dennis is currently a PhD Candidate in Development Economics at the University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (UCASS). Dennis holds an M.A in International Conflict Management from the Institute of Diplomacy and International Studies (IDIS), University of Nairobi, and a B.A in Political Science and Sociology from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa. He is an alumnus of Bloomberg Media Initiative Africa’s (BMIA) Training on Financial Journalism at Strathmore Business School.

Dennis has authored books, book chapter, peer-reviewed journal article, Op-Ed, and researched articles in local and international ewspapers on issues related to Governance, Foreign Relations, Development, Peace and Security. His latest book co-authored by Professor Peter Kagwanja titled Development as Peace: The Impact of Kenya’s Standard Gauge Railway (2023). Dennis is a member of the World Association of China Studies (WACS) and the Youth Research Group of the Global Think Tank Network for Democracy Studies.
